Disciple Sierra found this undersized Jesus in a book of children's Bible stories, published in 1939. I guess in the '30s it was okay to tell children about concepts like "feeling the sword of sorrow pierce your heart."
I didn't learn about the sword until I was in my senior year of high school.
I guess back in the day it was also okay to make your child do all the wood hauling for the family while you sat next to him enjoying a large cotton candy. Yes, those were much crueler times.
