Thank you to disciple John S. who alerted us to this fantastic painting by Tom Trujillo entitled “Jesus, the Teenage Years.”

The Web site showcasing this masterpiece (http://www.teenagejesus.com) says we don’t really know many historical details about Jesus’s life between the ages of thirteen and 28. So why not assume that Jesus’s adolescence was like that of other modern American boys?

The Jesus in this picture seems to have all the current issues and adornments of today’s teen. He’s got that smug I-don’t-give-a-toss look on his face, an ambiguous depressed-Goth best friend, and a gangsta tattoo across his abs like Tupac’s “Thug Life” ink. Because that’s how teenage boys are, and Jesus was no different.

Okay. Here’s the deal. Tom, the artist, was struggling to explain to his kid how to deal with drugs and chicks and peer pressure, so he painted this picture. Jesus’s appearance in the painting is modeled after Tom’s son. Now Tom is sharing his artwork with the world by selling it in poster format, thus enabling other parents and kids to connect about issues in the name of young Jeezy here.

As Will Smith has been trying to tell us for years: Parents just don’t understand.
