No. J2K1160
The Olympics of extreme summer sports known as the X Games – although clearly inspired by Satan – were capped off yesterday with a divine showing of Christly imagery via the skateboard Big Air event. Danny Way, with his likeness painted on a 50-foot votive candle on the side of the Hotel Figueroa, pulled off the miracle jump: a 70-or-so-foot “Frontside 360” into a “Christ Air.”
The “Christ Air” is a trick invented by skateboarder Christian Hosoi, whose nickname was Christ. He pioneered this sky-high jump with outstretched arms and legs, which is meant to call to mind the shape of Christ’s body as he was nailed to the cross. Gnarly! Ironically, Hosoi is now a born-again Christian who likes to talk to youth groups about skateboarding and Christianity.
Thanks, Jesus, for sparing Danny’s life on the Mega Ramp, for inspiring Christian Hosoi, and for turning water into Mountain Dew. Super smooth. Super dialed. (That’s ESPN-speak for “Hallelujah” and “Amen.”)
