Make us proud, ye of coincidental namesakes.
This list was composed thanks to some light Googling, which also revealed some relevant food for thought. The Olympic Games had been around for nearly 800 years by the time Mary pushed old J.C. out. About 400 years into Anno Domini, the Olympic Games were banned for being too pagan. Mon dieu! Our Modern Olympic games weren't resurrected until the end of the nineteenth century, when paganism and athleticism could once again mingle. No real punch line here, folks. Just things that make you go hmm...and make you want to get down on your knees and pray to somebody for the blessing of the "swimmer's body."
In case you are curious, the picture at right is a Greek printing of the story of Jesus. I hope.
