No. J2K1-1
If you're caught in an ice storm right now, why not slap some spikes on your Nikes and head to the old video store? Jesus of the Week has officially approved the fine feature film Drop Dead Gorgeous, starring the talented Kirstie Alley, the lovely Kirsten Dunst, the gifted Denise Richards, and the dazzling Ellen Barkin. On your right, you'll see why the Lord gave Gene Siskel permission to send his two thumbs up down from Heaven. The film is a kind of mockumentary of teen beauty pageants, set in Minnesota where the characters' accents are as rich as their beauty pageant talents, doncha know.
For the glorious scene pictured here, we're willing to forgive Denise Richards for her sinful lesbian sequence in Wild Things and her immoral photo spread in Maxim magazine. Denise is putting on a little musical skit for the talent portion of the competition. She starts off by winging--er, I mean singing-- "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" and then we realize who she is serenading. The J Man Himself is "just too good to be true," as the song says, and the viewer definitely can't take his or her eyes off of Him either. Mostly because He looks like an oversized Cabbage Patch Kid being attacked by Cousin Itt.
So there you have it, folks. It's sweet. It's touching. It's a girl dancing around with a life-size Jesus doll on a crucifix with wheels on the bottom.
A damn fine Jesus of the Week.
