Arthur S. Maxwell's definitive tome Your Bible and You once again delivers the goods. It's hard to tell what's really happening in this picture featuring a slippery looking used-car salesman and a towering, concerned JC. Jesus seems a bit troubled, maybe He's unburdening himself to this guy.

"You see Bob, I've got to tell this to somebody.... you know that Andrew Wyeth painting of the girl sitting in the wheat field? Well, that was no girl, that was me! I had my back turned. In fact, I just escaped from the damn picture right before I ran into you -- look, there's the field and the house right over my shoulder. Let's get out of here!"

Bob, of course, is grinning his lizard grin and nodding at the Boss. He doesn't want to tell Jesus, but he thought that was the Clutter farmhouse back there.
