He is a stern, perhaps slightly cross-eyed Jesus, a Paint-By-Numbers Jesus rendered by a common man. He is a nicely outfitted Jesus, a Jesus readying himself to partake of loaf and wine, a Jesus with right hand poised in mystery. Is He gesturing a waiter or a disciple for two more drinks? Is He holding an invisible cigar? Or is this Jesus about to reach across the table and--Three Stooges fashion--insert those two blessed fingers into the eyes of His dining partner? The answer is not to be found in the sacred texts; mankind must be the judge.
